Something to think about.

Please be warned that this is a rant. I have never ranted on here about anything before, but I think this is quite relevant. However, if you are not in the mood for reading someone's angry blogpost, leave now. Thank you kindly.

It's nothing unusual that school girls borrow clothes and other items from each other all the time; no one really bats an eyelid at that fact any more. Why shouldn't we? Borrowing saves us from having to buy a new dress every time we go to a dance, or new shoes every time we go to someone's birthday tea (especially on our limited budgets).
It has recently come to my attention though, that whenever one girl brings a bag of clothes or shoes to school to give to another, a Pick 'n Pay or Woolworths bag won't suffice; the goods have to come in a Country Road, La Senza or Zara shopping bag (etc, etc). And I have picked this up on multiple occasions; it is a pattern. It's as though friends try to subconsciously outdo or one-up each other every time they bring a new shopping bag of an even more prolific brand to school.
Why? Why is that necessary? I quite honestly could not care less about how fancy you think you are with your little bag. I'll compliment you on your clothes if I like them, but there is not a chance in hell that you bringing your fancy shopping bag to school will make me think more of you, make me envy you, or even make me think about complimenting you on your superior taste in brands. Clothes are clothes. If they're nice, they just are and it doesn't matter WHERE they come from...cause if there's one thing I hate, it has to be snobs.
There we go. You don't have to agree with me, just something to think about.

On a lighter note, here's some good old King Charles to hopefully put a smile on some faces in this awful exam-time weather.

Why in the night sky are the lights hung?

Why in the night sky are the lights hung?
Why is the earth moving round the sun?
Floating in the vacuum with no purpose, not a one
Why in the night sky are the lights hung?

Why is life made only for to end?
Why do I do all this waiting then?
Why this frightened part of me that's fated to pretend?
Why is life made only for to end?

In the city only for a while
Here to face the fortune and the bile
I heard you on the radio, I couldn't help but smile
In the city only for a while

Why in the night sky are the lights hung?
Why is the earth moving round the sun?
Floating in the vacuum with no purpose, not a one
Why in the night sky are the lights hung?

Flaws.

Now THIS is music.
Give it a listen, guaranteed you'll love it. This version is miles better than the studio version (no electronics and whatnot).

Hi World.

I've decided that I pretty much suck at this blogging thing because I'm so inconsistent with my posting.
I have had no time whatsoever recently though...so that's some sort of excuse, right?
I need to start looking for inspiration again cause I've been so busy with the non-inspiring world of...well...school, that any kind of cool creative flow that I had going on a while ago is gone.

So for now, I'll leave y'all with another cool music video (that's all I seem to do these days...) and will hopefully have some fashiony posts up soon.
Fingers crossed.

This is quite a cool song, and I think these guys are going to make it big pretty soon.

And may I just say that it's SO TYPICAL that I would be posting now since I have a rather large physics test tomorrow. WHY.

Aaaand I'll leave you on that happy note - hopefully by now you're just listening to the music, and not my rant.

Bye for now, Pips x

Hopeless Wanderer

Mumford & Sons at their best.
This is taken from their new album Babel (coming on the 24th of September...come to me)
This is only an audio video (with lyrics cause I'm fancy like that) but was performed LIVE at Bonnaroo in 2011.
Woah, right?

These guys continue to be my heroes.

Take A Walk

Wish You Were Here.

Now...for those of you who watched the Olympic Closing Ceremony (basically the saddest day of my life cause I now have no excuse for watching tv for hours at a time), I'm sure you'll all have seen Ed Sheeran perform Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'. You would probably have had one of three reactions:
1.Where does this song even come from?
2.He's brilliant. He can make anything sound great cause he is a ginger Jesus.
3.No one can sing that quite like Pink Floyd.

I am largely in support of number 3. Don't get me wrong, I really do love me some Ed and he is wonderfully talented and amazing with a guitar, but even though I thought his version was pretty cool when I watched it, going back and listening to the original made me think twice!

What do you think? Ed or Floyd?

This version is decidedly even better than the studio version.

That being said, I think it would be pretty awesome if Ed did a studio cover of the song - I'm sure he'd do a damn good job.

I Will Wait.

Mumford and Sons have just produced their first single off their new album Babel (to be released on the 24th of September). It's LOVELY.

Embroidered.

Pretty things.

These make me want to get my ears pieced.
In love with this.
Alexander McQueen.
A spiderweb made out of embroidery cotton. Whoever made this, you are so cool.
Birds are my favourite animals so I love this.

And then some good old Fleetwood Mac to finish off.

Flowers in your hair.

Was busy delving into the depths of that section of YouTube last night (where you find all that awesome unknown music - basically the Narnia of YouTube) and found this gorgeous song by The Lumineers after downloading their recently popular song 'Ho Hey' and scrolling further to see what else they'd produced.
This is some really lovely, pure, joyous music that kind of made me smile.

Makes me want to go and leap around in a sunny field with...well...flowers in my hair.
And here's Ho Hey as well. These people give modern music hope.

Lost For Words.

I cannot get over Young The Giant's 'in the open sessions'. The talent of these guys...phenomenal. According to me, some of them are even better than on the album!! I've loved them for ages, but these videos never cease to amaze me.
Can't help smiling every time i see them.
But here are my favourites. You really should do yourselves a favour and go look them up. Youtube. NOW.

Apartment

Guns Out

Typhoon

I Got

Strings

I would obviously put every single one of these on here if I could. But I'm actually supposed to be studying now - life is good.
By the way how amazing is the lead singer? His name is Sameer. He's awesome. And the guitarists. My lord.

Hello little bag.

So here is my lovely bag that I got for Christmas (chosen by me, gifted by parents) which was the best non-surprise ever; it's got a kind of vintagey feel and is more handbag size than little sling bag size, which is cool.

And my song of the day: Bedouin Dress - Fleet Foxes.

Cough Syrup.

Life's too short to even care at all, oh
I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control
These fishes in the sea, yeah they're staring at me, woah
A wet world aches for a beat of a drum, oh

If I could find a way to see this straight
I'd run away
To some fortune that I should have found by now
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down, come down

Life's too short to even care at all, oh
I'm coming up now coming up now, out of the blue
These zombies in the park, they're looking for my heart, woah
A dark world aches for a splash of the sun, oh

If I could find a way to see this straight
I'd run away
To some fortune that I should have found by now

And so I run now to the things they say could restore me
Restore life the way it should be
Waiting for this cough syrup to come down

One more spoon of cough syrup now, oh
One more spoon of cough syrup now, oh
